About Aqilah

Aqilah Elshabazz Pope is a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science. Additionally, Aqilah is a former flexologist at Stretch Lab- encompassing over 500+ hours of assisted stretching using science-backed proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques.

From an early age, Aqilah was always passionate about fitness and nutrition. But, like many of us, she developed unhealthy fitness habits during her early years as an athlete. From injuries to unhealthy relationships with food, she experienced it all, but she always knew something was missing. The excessive “No pain No gain” mindset simply didn’t seem sustainable.

Aqilah started her career in fitness 10 years ago as an assistant martial arts instructor at Syracuse Kung Fu. There, she fell in love with the holistic approach to fitness. Something she had been missing in her athletic career up to this point. While training at Syracuse Kung Fu, she learned the art of Qigong (breath work combined with physical exercise similar to tai chi), competed nationally in forms and fighting, and became an international heavyweight champion is San Da (Chinese kick boxing). Traveling the world and learning more about the body in these different ways inspired Aqilah to pursue her degree in Exercise Science.

“ I love to bring the mindfulness, breath work, and discipline-forming techniques I learned from years as an athlete into sessions with my clients. This allows them to form better mind-muscle connections, reduces their likelihood of injury, and allows them to have sustainable and long-term results that serve them during and after their time with me.

Whether you’re starting your fitness journey or getting back into things, I’m confident I can help you reach your goals. I am passionate about helping busy 35+-year-old women make time for their health and wellness. In our sessions, we’ll work on developing sustainable nutrition habits, improving your mobility and flexibility, and improving your cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

I’m here to help women be here for a good time and a long time, because we all deserve to live life contently and pain-free.
